Xabier Arakistain es Director del Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea (www.montehermoso.net), el primer centro de arte y pensamiento contemporáneo del estado que está desarrollando y aplicando políticas de igualdad entre los sexos en los ámbitos del arte y la cultura. Previamente, Arakistain fue comisario independiente desde que en 1999 inaugurara Trans Sexual Express, exposición en la que incorporaba la cuota de sexos como criterio curatorial. De 2001 a 2003 fue responsable de programación de la Sala de Exposiciones de la Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa, y de 2003 a 2006 dirigió las mesas de debate sobre arte y feminismo en la feria ARCO, desde donde impulsó el Manifiesto Arco 2005. Ha sido también comisario de retrospectivas de las Guerrilla Girls y de Leigh Bowery y de las colectivas Para todos los públicos; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, 45 años de arte y feminismo y Switch on the Power. Ruido y políticas musicales. Asimismo, a co-comisariado Trans Sexual Express 2000 junto a Rosa Martínez, La Mirada Iracunda junto a Maura Reilly y Living Together junto a Emma Dexter.

Xabier Arakistain is Director of the Centro Cultural Montehermoso Kulturunea (www.montehermoso.net), the first contemporary art and thinking centre in Spain which develops and applies policies of equality between sexes in art and culture. Previously Arakistain worked as an independent curator beginning back in 1999, when he opened Trans Sexual Express, an exhibition in which he incorporated the sex quota as a curatorial criterion. From 2001 to 2003 he was head of programming at the Exhibition Hall of Fundación Bilbao Arte Fundazioa, and from 2003 to 2006 he headed the discussion groups on art and feminism at ARCO Art Fair, from where he launched the Arco Manifest 2005. He has also curated Guerrilla Girls and Leigh Bowery retrospectives and the group shows  For all audiences; Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, 45 Years of Art and Feminism and Switch On The Power. Noise And Musical Policies. Also, he has cocurated Trans Sexual Express 2000 along with Rosa Martínez, The Furious Gaze with Maura Reilly and Living Together with Emma Dexter.
